What new things did you learn today? How do you find yourself in this story – do you connect with it or is it so far off you can’t imagine yourself ever being this way? Has God been calling you to something you feel you are not equipped for? What steps can you take today to start walking into the calling on your life?
Here is today’s challenge for beginning to come to God in reverence and awe:
- Confess your sin and unworthiness. Acknowledging your own limitations and sinfulness puts God’s perfection into perspective. It reminds you that you are coming before a holy being, not just a casual friend. This does not mean approaching him in terror, but with a respectful awareness of his greatness.

Two things that really stood out to me today were in Chapter 3.
FIRST: God saw Moses was fascinated with the bush – so as He saw He had Moses attention He called to him. He tells Moses He saw the misery of His people and heard their cry so He came to rescue them. Then He says He heard the Israelites cry and saw the way the Egyptians oppressed the Israelites. The Lord paid attention to everything that was going on with them. He also paid attention to the Egyptians (the ones who kept them in bondage) knowing what wrong they had done to His people. This affirms to me that God is always watching what is going on in my life. Especially when I am being mistreated, unfairly judged, or oppressed in any way. He cares and in His perfect time, in His perfect way, He will release me from the bondage.
Second: I saw how Moses really lacked the confidence of His calling. He had faith in God but did not feel God could use Him becasue of His own perception of who God used, or how God could choose to use an imperfect person. It is easy to fall into this thinking for any/all of us. We need to tap into our value as children of the One True King and know that God wants to use us in our imperfections, not because we have something perfect to offer. We are called to give what we have, He will use that and add to what we don’t have.

Exodus 4: 21 “And the LORD told Moses, “When you arrive back in Egypt, go to Pharaoh and perform all the miracles I have empowered you to do. But I will harden his heart so he will refuse to let the people go.”
Pastor Tony Evans study Bible commentary on EX 4: 21: “God said he would harden Pharoah’s heart so that he wouldn’t let the people go. Throughout this book, however, we’ll see that God didn’t harden Pharoah’s heart until Pharoah first hardened himself. When Pharoah repeatedly refused to listen (7:22, 8:15, 32), God told him in a sense, “Have it your way.” He used Pharoah’s rebellion to achieve his kingdom purpose.”
Exodus 4: 31 “Then the people of Israel were convinced that the LORD had sent Moses and Aaron. When they heard that the LORD was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshipped.”
1 Peter 5: 6-7 “So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
My thoughts: Amen! God always deserves our worship and praise. And wholeheartedly praising him is good for us. Oh, what peace and joy there is remembering how much he cares for us and how much we need him!
