This is the institution of Passover. Passover began before the 10th plague – the plague of death of the first born – began. This was instituted in the Israelites camp, not the Egyptians.
Write out 1 Corinthians 5:7.
Exodus 12:1-28 When were the Israelites to celebrate? And how often? What things do you see in this section that are fascinating to you or new to you?
Exodus 12:29-36 What is happening here? Write out Exodus 12:36. Why is this verse important?
Exodus 12:27-42 How many people were with them? How many people did the Israelites start in Egypt with?
Exodus 12:43-51 These were some final rules on passover. Anything stand out to you here? Write out Exodus 12:50
What do you learn from the Israelites Exodus out of Egypt? Is there something you can learn about yourself or about how others respond to things from this text? What do you learn about God’s interactions with His people? How can you apply these things to your life this week?
Today, after you time of silence, spend a few minutes reflecting on what you have learned so far in your time going through the bible or in what you learned from Sunday Morning study. If you didn’t go to church or you don’t remember you can go back to the church website or youtube page and watch the sermon there. Take time to allow all of these things to sink in.

What stood out to me was how the Israelites tone has changed. We see them, earlier in Exodus, complaining to Moses because of the extra labor they were forced to do. They didn’t see God’s plan in things, didn’t trust God had their best in mind when it all started, but now that they saw the works of God they did everything Moses said. But it wasn’t until they saw the death of others did they seem to truly do all Moses said (at least that is what I am seeing in the text). My question is at this point are they only following Moses out of fear of what God can do to them, like ending their lives, or because they wanted to truly follow God?
So for me – I want to live out obedience to Christ not because of fear of Him taking me out, but because I love Him. I don’t want fear to be the anchor I hold onto to do the right thing. I want to please the Lord because of the Love He has for me, not because He can take away my life at any moment.
