This section tells us a lot about who God is. What did you learn that was new, fascinating, or confusing? What did you learn about the way people are in general? Did you learn anything new about yourself? How will you take these lessons and move forward with them?
Today’s reflection: Think back to periods or events in your life that triggered your deepest longing for forgiveness. Did you seek or practice any form of confession? Why or why not?

God desires us to rest, so much so He even requires us to give the land a rest. Everything in creation needs rest. It is healthy, it is holy. Rest is holy!!! Even God rested, so we had an example of what He wanted of us. He wants us to do the work, but also to get away from the work. We can not make work our life and never focus on anything else. Then He continues on to tell us we need to obey His commandments – rest is one of the commands He gives us. Not only in the levitical law – but it is right in the 10 commandments.
It is beneficial to us to make sure we are taking time away from work, from doing too much. We need to not say yes to everything all the time, we are healthy when we can say no. Because if we can only give 50% of us 100% of the time then we are not giving what God is actually asking of us. We need to be able to give 100% of us for a portion of the things we are asked to do. Because God values rest, He values us taking care of ourselves – SO THAT we can take care of others better.
Here when the land gets rest, it is able to give a more abundant crop in the future. The trees and the vines will be healthier. Their production will be in abundance. If God cares about the trees and the vines, the land, that much – how much more does He care about the creation made in His likeness.
So, what I am seeing is that there is time for us to say no. Just because we are asked to do something doesn’t mean we have to do it. If we always say yes to everything (if we are always trying to till the ground) the people around us will take advantage of that. We have to be able to say no, not right now, and know that we are not actually letting anyone down. We are caring for ourselves so we can better care for others that we are meant to care for. If we are always so tired we can never fully give what we need in any situation.
