What are we reminded of about God in these chapters? What have you learned new today? How can you apply what you learned?
Reflection: What response do you feel when you hear that Fasting is and important element of Christian Devotion? Meditate on Psalm 14 today. Pray this as a prayer of hope and salvation for yourself. Repent of any of these things you have done and be blessed by the Lord in what He is doing in you.

The thing that really stuck out to me, that I will take with me, is that God is serious about when He gives directions to us. When we are called to obedience, we must follow His directions. We can not act on our own understanding. We must do exactly as He says or there will be consequences to pay. Moses went through so much, only to be disobedient in the end and lose out on a huge blessing – getting to go into the promised land. It is important to follow His directions, so we don’t lose out on blessings that the Lord desires to give us.

What response do you feel when you hear that Fasting is an important element of Christian Devotion?
My thoughts: I am always learning more about our God and his ways. Today, I would not say that fasting is an “important element of Christian devotion.” At least not in my relationship with Jesus.
I have fasted a few times for specific reasons or insights. I did not find it to be as devotional as humbling myself under his mighty hand (1 Peter 5: 6-7) and trusting him completely when I feel weak and vulnerable, which is happening a lot lately.
