How much do you remember?

  • Who holds the office of High Priest?
  • How many generations are found in the book?
  • Why did they wander in the wilderness for 40 years?

:As we close out this book, what things did you learn about the Character of God that were new? What did the Lord reveal to you about yourself and about other people? Was there something that really stood out to you in the last few weeks?

Let’s pray through Psalm 12 today. This verse is a good one to pray over our society today. It is talking about the oppression by the wicked. We can meditate on verse 7, asking the Lord to be this for His church, but also sitting and hearing about how you can be used within your sphere of influence, to draw others to Christ – to no longer be the oppressors but to be on the side of Christ.

Reflection: Today let’s spend some time in Psalm 11. As you meditate on this Psalm, spend time listening to the Lord on anything you may be in need of confessing, repenting from, or changing in your life. We should always be aiming at growing in Him, and that means looking at the things that He sees are in need of some attention in your life, things that need to be brought into His control and in obedience to His ways.

What did you learn today? What are you walking away with? How will you apply today’s lessons to you to your walk with the Lord?

Reflection: Psalm 9 is a celebration of God’s Justice. Take time to read through this Psalm, pondering each thing He did. Personalize the text by thinking about how He has done these things for you in your life. Then celebrate those victories in your life and where you see defeat or on-going battle, pray over those areas. Ask why you were defeated – was it sin, was it lack of faith, or where you in a battle you were never supposed to be in (for example). As for wisdom, knowledge, help for the on-going battle, and for victory over whatever that is. Then take time to sit in silence and wait to hear what He wants to tell you. Be ready for whatever He will share.

At the beginning of the forty years there were about six hundred thousand men and at the end of the forty years there were about six hundred thousand. Moses is also told of his impending death and then, Joshua is appointed in his place.

Did you learn anything new about the Lord in today’s text? How about with mankind or yourself? What will you walk away with from today’s text?

Reflection: Meditation is also A two-way conversation: It is seen as a process of communing with God, engaging in a “two-way conversation” to better know and love Him.

Today we will take time to pray through Psalm 8. Let this be a start of a conversation. Use the words here to speak to God, but don’t forget to stop and listen to what He is saying to you. He wants to converse with you, not just listen. He may share a scripture with you, put a thought in your mind that would only come from Him. He may put a song on your heart to sing to Him. Or He may whisper some wonder words of encouragement to you. Maybe He doesn’t speak in that moment, but has someone come to you later and share a specific word from Him that only you know is from Him. His speaking to you can look so many different ways. Be open today how He wants to talk to you.

We will see the death of Miriam and the sin of Moses when he smote the rock twice and God told him to just speak to it. Because Moses did not believe the Lored – he would not go into the land.

      • Write out verse 24
      • What is happening in the rest of the chapter?
      • How many days did they mourn?

What did you learn that was a new concept today: about God’s character, people in general or yourself? What can you take away from todays lesson?

Reflection: Meditation Results in transformation: The ultimate goal is not just reflection but transformation—to have one’s thoughts and life shaped by God’s word, leading to “right living” and a more fruitful life.

Today as you pray through Psalm 6, take time to process how God is calling you to live. What is He asking you to move from and/or move towards? How is He leading you to elevate your relationship with Him through obedience to His Word?

In this section is the transition from the old to the new generation with the exception of Joshua and Caleb. The Lord told the people they would die (see Numbers 14:29) and that their children would go into the land. For all those years they wandered and finally came to the same spot where they had been, Kadesh-barnea.

What have you learned new about God’s character today? What did you learn about the character of people? What did the Lord reveal to you about yourself?

Reflection: Meditation is A form of prayer: It is considered a form of prayer that goes beyond simple vocalization. It’s a way to be with God in silence and stillness, to ponder His nature, and to grow in love and communion with Him.

As you pray through Psalm 5, think about His nature, His character, His love for you and talk to Him about how you can further your communion with Him.

Chapters 11-14 find the people moving toward the Promise Land – and after three days they begin to murmur and complain. Even Aaron and Miriam become jealous of their brother, Moses. At Kadesh-barnea they displayed their sinfulness of unbelief. They send twelve spies to search out the land and ten came back with a negative report. Only two, Joshua and Caleb, said, “Let us go up and possess the land.” The crowd would not believe them. Judgment falls in the form of forty years wandering.

What things stuck out to you today about the Israelite’s? What did they continue to do? How does that look for you and your life? What did you learn about God? What can you take away from today’s lesson?

Reflection: Receiving revelation: The practice is a process of opening one’s heart and mind to receive guidance and new understanding from the Holy Spirit.

Let us practice this as we read through Psalm 4 today. As you read through this and pray through the verse, sit and ask the Lord to show you some new understanding or to give you the guidance you need. Be quiet and ready to hear what He is telling you. It will be a sweet time.

We begin today looking at the instructions the Lord was giving the camp. Today and tomorrow we will look at the instructions dealing with the inward condition of the camp.

What did you learn today about God, people or yourself? Did anything stand out to you that felt new or different? What can you walk away with today about what the Lord wants from you?

Reflection: One key aspect of Christian Meditation is: Focus on God and scripture: The practice involves deliberately concentrating on a specific verse, phrase, idea, or characteristic of God, such as reflecting on “The Lord is my shepherd” and considering what it means personally.

Today we will focus on Psalm 2. This is a good chapter to focus on our country, our city, our government, etc. Pray these verses over them or see what the Lord would be having you to understand and focus on today. Is there a phrase in that text that stood out to you? Is there an idea or a thought that came to mind? Pray over that today.

These chapters are going to look at the first numbering of the Israelites. The numbering was for military purposes. Each of the twelve tribes were numbered and assigned a position around the tabernacle.

Chapter 3 gives the census of the tribe of Levi-exempt from the general census. They were priests, set apart to serve God and care for the tabernacle. Chapter 3:38 tells the position of Moses, Aaron and his sons.

  • Chapter 1: The numbering of adult males:

As you looked at these chapters, what do you learn about God’s character? There are things to see, it isn’t always obvious – just written in black and white – sometimes its in the things you notice about him. What things stuck out to you today?

Our spiritual practice through the book of numbers will be learning about Christian Meditation. So today I will define this for you:

  • Christian meditation is a spiritual discipline of reflecting on scripture, God’s attributes, or other religious themes to grow in relationship with God.
    • Unlike some Eastern practices that involve emptying the mind, Christian meditation focuses on filling the mind with thoughts of God and scripture to receive revelation and transform one’s life.
    • It is a prayerful practice aimed at communion with God through focused reflection, silence, and stillness.

Everyday I am going to give you a Psalm to meditate on. Today I want you to start by taking the words of the Psalm, personalizing them and using the Psalm as a springboard to prayer. We will begin with Psalm 1. However the Lord leads you to pray using this verse. It is okay to change the wording to fit the cries of your heart. Our prayers do not have to match what the words say exactly, or if it is easier to just pray the Psalm word for word that is okay as well. Today we begin with reading the Psalm and praying it over our lives, our family, our friends, our country or whatever you want to pray it over. Just pray :)
